Woodworking + Other Projects
I have taken Manufacturing Tech at my high school for four years and during that time, finished some respectable woodworking projects.
The first project I ever made was a wooden stool. I used a template which I cut out on jig saw and used table saw jigs to cut the stretchers. Its pretty damn strong, enough for me not to have broken it with semi-regular use over the last four years.
Next, I made a pagoda box made out of laminated plywood. The router and table saw were mainly used to construct a box held together with no metal fasteners.
Next, came a 1″ thick edge grain cutting board. And many years later I would make a new better thicker and much more expensive cutting board. It was an end grain cutting board measuring at 2 inches thick and big enough to break down a whole chicken on it.
I love watching J. Kenji López-Alt and have always wanted the wood salt container he uses. So, I made my own constructed of purely joints and glue.
That’s pretty much it, I love woodworking and more often than not it is more forgiving than metal working.
